The schedule below was developed as equitably as possible. Major absences such as the International Tour to Rome (Roman Pilgrimage) & Teton Science Camp and major volunteer demands such as Nativity and Shakespeare plays were taken into account when assigning coverage. We recognize that classes with low student numbers will struggle with meeting the coverage requests. And, we acknowledge that the colder months are a challenge for all parents. Classes are encouraged to negotiate with one another to swap weeks or months to better accommodate competing demands on parents time. During your assigned Teacher Luncheon month, consider working with another class to share yard and lunch duty coverage so that all teachers have the opportunity to enjoy the monthly luncheons. Thank you for all that you do.

Lunch & Yard Duty Guidelines
Schedule 2 parents for lunch
Schedule 3 parents for yard
Kindergarten will coordinate 4 parents each day (2 lunch duty & 2 yard duty)
Grades 1 through 8 will make an effort to schedule up to 5 parents each day.
Lunch Duty volunteers should arrive no later than 11:20. Typically, one can expect to be able to leave by 12:30 pm. All volunteers should proceed to Erbin Hall and complete a volunteer name tag. Lunch Duty volunteers should prepare two buckets of water/bleach solution with rags for the cleaning of tables after each shift. Large trash cans should be placed in an easy to reach location in the lunchroom. Two cartons of milk should be retrieved from the lunchroom refrigerator and placed in a location accessible to the students. (Chocolate milk is typically reserved for Friday only). A teacher will be present during lunch. The teacher on duty will dismiss the students table by table. Wipe down tables with the water/bleach solution. A second shift of students (grades 4 through 8) will arrive in the lunchroom. Students are not allowed to leave the lunchroom without notifying an adult volunteer or the teacher on duty. The water/bleach solutions should be emptied, buckets stored and rags rinsed and laid out at the end of the shift. The trash cans, floors cleaning and storage of tables will be handled by the school custodian.
Yard Duty volunteers should arrive on campus no later than 11:45 am. Typically, the yard duty volunteer can expect to leave at approximately 12:50. All volunteers should proceed to Erbin Hall and complete a volunteer name tag. Yard duty volunteers should move around the yard in an effort to monitor all areas of the campus. Students are never allowed outside the campus gates unless they are signed out and accompanied by their parent or guardian. A teacher will be on duty with the yard duty volunteers. The teacher will signal (whistle or bell) when lunch recess has ended and students know to proceed to their classroom or other assigned location. Sometimes, they need a little encouragement. Outdoor recess begins after lunch has been eaten (this order has changed from time-to-time). Recess volunteers remain outside for lower and upper grades – plan to be on yard duty for two shifts of students.
Indoor lunch volunteers need to arrive no later than 11:45 am and remain until all upper grade students have been dismissed, by a teacher, from the lunchroom. Indoor lunch volunteers will:
- Retrieve milk from the kitchen refrigerators and place the crates in the dining area,
- Prepare water/bleach solution in pails for use later,
- Supervise meal time,
- Wipe down tables using the water/bleach solution - after lower classes are dismissed and again after upper grade students are dismissed.
Monthly Faculty Luncheon Assignment
- Faculty & Staff luncheons take place in the Erbin Hall Board Room. In some cases, the faculty lounge has been used for the luncheon when the Board Room is occupied.
- Email Greg Glenn This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it of the date you would like the luncheon to avoid conflicts with other activities. The school Office Manager will email the faculty of the scheduled date.
- Request parent volunteers to bring in enough food beverages and utensils for 25 to 30 people. For December, plan for an additional 15 persons. It is helpful to schedule two additional recess/lunch duty volunteers on the teacher luncheon day. This allows the teachers on lunch and yard duty some time to participate in the luncheon. Consider teaming with another grade for the extra coverage this day and do the same for them on their luncheon day.
