Originally from Salt Lake City, Utah, Joanna Wheelton attended Utah State University where she received a bachelor's degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Biology. She also attended Syracuse University College of Law, receiving a Juris Doctorate in 2000. Joanna practiced tax planning law for 5 years in New York, which prepared her for a career focused on charitable giving.
